a new flock

When we first began this blog we had just gotten our first "flock" of pest control.... chickens to eat all the ticks and chiggers here! Now after our 200th post, We still have 7 of that flock keeping us supplied with fresh eggs regularly.  However they are going on 3 years old!!!  It seemed to be time to welcome in a new batch.  So we got some Easter chicks!
Easter morning all lined up! 15,14,12,10,8,18 mon
colored eggs.....
We had fun picking out the new batch, and the kids thought the colored chicks were too cute!  they will outgrow their "color" in just a few weeks.

Thankful to be Americans

Thankful for the many freedoms we are able to enjoy today in the good ol' USA.the right to raise our children to know the one true God,
The right to gather with believers and worship our Lord,
The right to have our voice heard,
the right to go where we want to go
the right to smile freely :)
the right to wave the American flag
which stands for freedom
and we won't forget the men who died to give that right to us
And we'll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
cause there ain't no doubt we love this land,
God Bless the USA!

God's classroom

is the best for learning :) we enjoyed the great spring weather today by doing school outside! They stayed WARM as we studied the COLD war in history (ha ha)They were ready for a change of scenery for our Bible FEAST so they chose the trees! (reminded me of the Sound of Music scene where they are playing in the trees!)
and after "school" we all worked in the yard for awhile pulling weeds, transplanting hostas and just general spring clean up.
Here Eugene is working hard to get the whole root of those pesky dandelions out! He said "Mom, why did God create weeds?" I said "Do you remember Adam?" He said "Oh Yeah - SIN"

Only a few more FEAST posts for our fast as Easter is nearing!
so onto today's
Isaiah 61:1-9
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,

3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.

5 Aliens will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.

6 And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.

7 Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.

8 "For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and iniquity. In my faithfulness I will reward them and make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the LORD has blessed."

Luke 4:16-21

16He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." 20Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

A beautiful day outside

A couple of days ago my sister got me all dressed up for a photo shoot...
We went out in to the field, thankfully we did not get covered in burs or ticks!
Though I did get some chigger bites :(

Posing by a post, we took LOTS of pictures it was very fun!

I picked a purple bunch of flowers, they were so pretty.
Here I am with some of the little flowers

I don't really read books in trees,
but the photographer wanted me to pose this way, so I did!

Go out and enjoy God's nature TODAY!
Hope you have a wonderful day

Backyard tire swing...

Grandpa is great for getting the little jobs done! He doesn't sit around much.We have been wanting to get a tire swing up since I got new tires this winter!
Dad and Grandpa found just the right tree, and super strong rope (the man from lowes said so!) and a few tosses to get it to just the right spot and there you have it!

Oh it took a REALLY good knot too (glad I wasn't doing this one, I don't think a bow would have cut it!) Testing it out making sure it doesn't hit the tree...

....or hit the ground!!

THANKS Dad and Grandpa we LOVE it!
Yes we are true county folk - actually USING old tires :) Happy swinging
